The exhibition that you see here in Di Volta is a re-run of a booth from the 2011 Fiac art fair in Paris.
The booth has been re-made and represented now in 2024 with each element slightly changed. The mannequin is now pregnant and carrying homeware as opposed to a small flight case, the portfolio display is now a craft table. The original image in the frame was a view from the backseat of a car through the front seats and out the window.
The idea to re-run this booth came from a conversation with Alex Vivian where he highlighted his preference for this show over more recent ones. I decided to re-run my solo shows from 2011 to that date in 2024 and each time I present one they are altered to fit the new setting. It was at once a solution to the demand to produce newness and innovation but also both a reluctance to do this mixed with an inability to not. The re-run plan was to put a pause on everything whilst continuing, giving me almost endless content to share.
Several years have passed and I think only a few people who see this presentation will have seen the original one from 2011 so in that sense it might as well be new.
