A Wake Up Song Mr. President

Abdellia Palace, Tunis

Kamel Lazaar Foundation and Centre d'Art Contemporain Genève (CAC) present 'A Wake Up Song Mr. President', curated by Andrea Bellini and Lina Lazaar, a collaboration that presents highlights from the last ten years of this biennial of moving image and video works for Tunis at the historic sixteenth century Abdellia Palace in La Marsa.

BIM has commissioned and presented works from some of the most notable contemporary artists working internationally today: Sophia Al Maria , Mandy Harris Williams, Pauline Boudry & Renate Lorenz, Simon Fujiwara, DIS, Hannah Black & Juliana Huxtable & Or Forever, and Aziz Hazara. In addition to these works, a screening programme of 9 feature length and short films will take place at the Maison de la Culture Ibn Khaldoun in central Tunis.

The site of Abdellia was selected both for its historic nature, and as a statement on the continued persistence of art as a means to challenge, express, and dream - ten years after an exhibition was defaced and shut down at this very site.

This collaboration is a first gesture towards a longer term collaboration between KLF and BIM Genève in exhibiting and developing moving image practices in Tunisia.
